They can stay for days though, in either direction, once they are invited to spend the night. I still get great joy even with these limitations out of traveling my sims to visit friends and relatives, and having the scaled down almost mini-sim versions visit mine. One household or the other has to be inactive or else when you separate them out again the game wouldn't really be able to tell which is the "foreign" household and which is the local one.
Yes, we can switch active households while on a vacation as noted, but you can't really blend a traveling party with one that is resident in the visited homeworld even though they are all full-fledged sims this way. (ears burning) No, I'm afraid you can't really do this and expect it to turn out well. I won't do anything until Igazor or someone else that uses the connected worlds checks in as I know he has multiple families in connected worlds.
I'll just have to adjust the story line if I can't do this. I thought about using the invite to stay for the visit so I wouldn't have to travel them, but that just invokes mini sims and doesn't allow for the length of time I wanted which is several sim days and they still wouldn't be controllable. I don't plan on switching and traveling anyone other than the teens when it is time for them to go home if I let them stay. I don't want to glitch my game to the point of losing all of them that is for sure! If it is not advisable to have them move in for the visit I will just send them back home to Midnight Hollow and scratch the visit plans. There really is no point in having the teens visit their aunt if I can't have them stay in the same house and be playable. I don't want to rotate between the teens and the aunts family. They just got back from Egypt as a vacation world. The family in Barnacle Bay was originally part of the teens family back in Midnight Hollow, so they are still connected in the relationship panel and I play them as well. I've read all the travel pages in the wiki since I started connecting the worlds and they don't really answer my question.
